Mar Satorras is a Researcher at the Urban Sustainability Area of Institut Metròpoli (UAB) and an affiliated researcher at the Urban Transformation and Global Change Laboratory (TURBA Lab) at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC). She completed her PhD at ICTA-UAB at 2017 and was a Juan de la Cierva postdoctoral fellow at TURBA from 2019 to 2021. She has taught in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at UAB, UOC, and UIC.

As an environmental social scientist with an interdisciplinary background in environmental science and socio-cultural anthropology, her research focuses on climate change adaptation and urban environmental justice. She combines qualitative and quantitative methods, ranging from ethnographic research to large-scale surveys, with citizen science, co-production and policy-oriented approaches to critically examine and actively engage with climate and sustainability transitions.

Her main research interests include climate change adaptation and resilience, environmental justice, citizen science, socio-environmental transformations, water governance, environmental anthropology, and sustainability transitions. She is particularly interested in understanding how governance arrangements, knowledge systems, and participatory processes can support just, inclusive, and sustainable responses to climate change in urban areas.
