Summary
This study investigates pedestrian mobility dynamics within Barcelona’s traffic-calmed areas to examine how these internationally recognized urban transformations are experienced by those who navigate them daily. Through public calls and partnerships with local community organizations, the initiative engages a diverse cohort of participants, encompassing residents, workers, students, and regular visitors. Employing a mixed-methods participatory research framework, the study integrates quantitative data with lived experiences to evaluate pedestrian behavior in urban environments. The project’s second edition was implemented in the Sants and Sant Andreu districts, demonstrating how citizen-led science can effectively bridge urban planning decisions with the everyday practices of city dwellers.
