Summary
The Citizen Science in Motion project institutionalizes a sustainable model of participatory research in Barcelona, transforming residents into active contributors to scientific insights on pedestrian mobility. Utilizing workshops, exploratory walks, and surveys, this mixed-methods framework analyzes how built and perceived environments govern pedestrian behavior. Its primary innovation is the systemic integration of accessible methodologies co-designed with visually impaired participants, resolving a critical blind spot in traditional urban planning and traffic calming. By linking lived experience to evidence-based policy, this replicable model provides actionable data for sustainable urban governance aligned with the 2030 Agenda—specifically target goals on health, gender equity, inclusive urbanism, and public participation.
